Many of the best breakthrough innovations from American research labs reach commercial scale only with the right international partner. Phasebridge helps US deep-tech startups find and build those partnerships. Our first funding program, Deep Tech Passport, is a pilot funded by an NSF award to Northeastern University, which makes subawards to US startups. Your partner in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan or Singapore joins the project.
Deep Tech Passport
A subaward funds your startup. Your partner joins the project.
- Your funding. Each selected US startup receives $250K as a subaward, made by Northeastern University under its NSF award and paid to your company as you reach agreed milestones.
- Your partner contribution. Facilities, equipment time, staff or customer access, confirmed in a letter of commitment.
- Potential additional support. We are in conversation with agencies in partner economies about supporting your local partners. Stay tuned for future updates.

About Phasebridge
An initiative built to close the commercialization gap for US deep tech
A new chip process, a quantum component or a battery material can be proven in a US lab and still stall before production. What it needs is a manufacturing partner, a research facility or a first customer, and the best options and yet hardest to access are often outside of the US. We help US startups build those connections and turn conversations into partnerships through collaborating on real projects with them.
The funding program builds on workshops we have held since 2024 in Taiwan, Singapore, South Korea, and Japan. Through these workshops, we are building an international network of startup founders, venture builders, corporate partners, investors and funding agencies, all working together to accelerate how deep tech scales.
